Title: The algebraic geometry of computer vision

Abstract: Modern computer vision relies heavily on (classical) algebraic geometry. I will describe some of the history of this relationship, dating back to the mid-19th Century, give some examples of core algorithms that derive from basic intersection theory, and discuss recent results that incorporate more modern techniques. I will conclude by speculating about how algebraic geometry and computer vision can continue to co-evolve.
