Singular hermitian metrics and Bogomolov-Gieseker inequalities
Abstract: The talk will discuss new analytic proofs of versions of the Bogomolov-Gieseker inequality for stable holomorphic vector bundles. The analytic approach allows for a stronger conclusion in the case of equality. This involves generalizing the Donaldson–Uhlenbeck–Yau and nonabelian Hodge theorems in two directions. One generalization is to the case of certain calibrated geometries, of which a particularly interesting example is a multipolarization on a Kaehler manifold. The second generalization is an extension of these theorems to singular projective varieties. More recent extensions of these results will also be discussed.
