Title: Introduction to Mathematical Modeling of Plasticity
Abstract: Complete mathematical formulations of plasticity are rarely taught in a formal class setting. In this lecture, I will provide a basic introduction for students who may work in modeling plasticity in the future. I will start by giving a review of continuum mechanics and qualitative theory of plasticity. I will conclude by demonstrating how various plastic constitutive laws can be linked with the equations of continuum mechanics to form a complete mathematical formulation of plasticity.
