Violent attacks such as the shootings at three Asian-American owned businesses in the Atlanta area that left 8 dead last week, including 6 of Asian descent, and the shooting in Colorado leaving 10 dead this week, have seen a huge uptick in recent years. The Department of Mathematics condemns violence, racism, and hate in any form. We continue to look for ways to support any and all members of our community when hate and violence touch them.
In addition to Counseling and Psychological Services for students, and the Employee Assistance Program for faculty and staff, the Asian American Center has a resources page of hate crime reporting mechanisms and student-curated mental health resources, should you need them. We stand in solidarity with our Asian American friends and colleagues in this difficult moment. We encourage you to attend a free training on Bystander Intervention available from Hollaback here.
